Meeting with Pavel Sebor
I was in Prague in a business trip 10 days ago. The trip was more exciting than other ones I had before. I have had possibilty to meet with Pavel Sebor in his company - SCS Software - in centre of Prague on Jana Masaryka street.
I think I was one of the few who seeing live Euro Truck Simulator and 18 Wheels of Steel: American Long Haul in action in their producer headquarter before release. Pavel and Viktor explain me how Euro Truck Simulator is created and showed me major changes in comparison with preceding 18 Wheels of Steel series. I must say that the game looks very nice even though it is still in preparation. New generation of Prism3D engine is used, with a lot of improvements and total overwrites of several areas. The objects and trucks are more smoothed and have more details, the roads more or less is based on real european road network. The biggest western countries will be have 2 or 3 cities in game, the others only one city (Poland, Czech for example). Russian was not available in game - maybe it will be in next sequel (the same as my city Cracow in Poland).
The main futures are:
DirectX 9.0c compatibilty
better compatibility and utilization of graphics card
large enhancement in tree rendering
enhanced the truck driving simulation
real looking interiors of European trucks - especially dashboard
many kind of European AI cards on the road
traffic system is much improved from 18 Wheels of Steel series
dashboard and internal HUD has more details
gas stations, truckstops, repair stations reflect European standards
some name/mark of trucks and cars are changed due to copyright (licences!)
The second game, 18 Wheels of Steel: American Long Haul is more based on prevoius game called Haulin'. The game areas is expanded to Mexico now. Some existing Haulin' road system/environment was changes to reflect your wishes. It was polished over 3 months.
The good news 18 WoS American Long Haul is close to finished and "gold" status can be reached to the end of this month. The game can be released even this year! The official site will be probably ready in couple of weeks.

New development update has been added to Rig'n'Roll official site.
Artwork testing of the game world and fixing of the bugs in the artwork are in progress.
Testing of the vehicles is in progress; each vehicle model gets a number of custom upgrades for it. Repair shop stock lists are formed, taking into account the presence of actual vehicle manufacturer representatives in the vicinity.
Multi-core optimization and debugging is complete. The demo version of the game has been sent to an Intel lab for performance testing.
The development of the scenario subsystem is in progress.
"Instant Order" mode of the game is complete. In it, with an initial sum of money and a user-selected truck, the user is completing a delivery order from a user-selected warehouse. A demo version based on this mode was shown at the recent "Igromir?2007", a gaming expo in Moscow.
The best results are displayed in three ratings, by the profit, by the average speed and by the safety. In the "Instant Order" mode, most of the vehicles are available and almost the whole game world territory. The user can select the weather conditions and the time of day at start.
I have got an email from Pavel that the Euro Truck Simulator official site was updated. This information was included on TruckPol Forum as well. You can find fragment of this message below:
In addition, SCS Software would like to announce the launch of the Euro Truck Simulator website, located at http://www.eurotrucksimulator.com - your number one source for information, screenshots, and much more. The site will be kept up to date with more news as the game develops, so we hope fans will visit often to get the latest scoop! Euro Truck & 18 WOS: American Long Haul news
I have got a confirmation from Pavel Sebor about new games. Look at fragment of this mail:
Hello Jarek, .. We are indeed working on two new truck games - Euro Truck Simulator and 18 Wheels of Steel: American Long Haul. We are limited by lack of time rather than too strict NDA's, I know we should try harder to communicate with the fan community. This information is not really a heavily guarded secret. .. Anyway, as the work is progressing, I hope that we will unveil more about ETS in the next week or two, and information about ALH should follow soon, too. In fact, we'll be launching official websites for both games within the next month or two, with information, screenshots and everything. But I will make sure you also receive a bunch of exclusive screenshots for TruckPol ..
You can wait for new information looking at official sites in the meantime (in preparation for update)
Thanks everyone for helping us in choosing the trucks to add to the 18 Wheels of Steel wheel. For your information, here is the final choice:
These trucks have distinctive looks compared to anything that has already been in the previous games, so we feel that they will complement the fleet nicely. Please note that as we cannot use real brands in the game, the new models may have small differences here and there from the real trucks that they would be inspired by.
We'll be disclosing more information about 18 Wheels of Steel: American Long Haul soon. For those inquiring about when it's going to be released - not yet. We'll be breaking the pattern - in the past, 18 Wheels of Steel games used to be released early in the Autumn. This game is going to be ready later, possibly towards the end of this year.

New SCS software's games
The rumours are circulating that SCS Software is at work on new 2 games. The first is probably Euro Truck Simulator and its site you can find here. The second will be maybe the next part of 18 Wheels of Steel series.
Rig'n'Roll official site was updated last. New development update has been added to this site.
The game world has gone through technical testing (testing on the consistency of the objects in the game world), right now they are testing the characters of the game world.
They are testing all the vehicles in the game and at the same time they are adding the final touches on the system of upgrades that you will be able to perform on your truck and the garages where you will be able to do this.
The development of missions is complete. They are testing it and fixing all the bugs.
The development of the game installer is complete. They are testing it on different operating systems and computer types.
They are developing the system of automatic error checks for the game.
They have finished optimizing the game to work under multiprocessing platforms.
They are working to optimize game features for different computer configurations.
They are putting the finishing touches on different lighting for the characters.
They are also finishing the different scenarios that will be possible in the game.
The English translation was prepared by Ubaku (THX).

Rig'n'Roll Picture Joke
There is a Rig'n'Roll picture joke created by Igor, sent me in his last email. Look at the text in the bottom of the picture ;-)

I got a new email from Igor Belago about Rig'n'Roll game 3 weeks ago. I am sorry for delay in post it. Hi Jarek! I am sorry for delay. We have completed an economics of the game world and now I am a richest shipper in California. Unfortunately my competitors become more and more angry and I feel they eject me next time I test the game (save/load does not work good yet). We are completing now the development and verification of our mission engine for RnR. I like it and it looks like we are able to create three games instead of one on the base of RnR. Just sit and invent different stories and the engine will animate them in the game. The next and I hope the last stage will be a completion of scenario implementation. So as you see we did not have any chance for vacations. Best regards Igor.
Thanks Igor for message! The picture from this email will be post probably tommorow.

Pavel Sebor posted interesting post on TruckPol Forum some days ago.
Hi, I would like to ask TruckPol for help. We are looking into extending Haulin' fleet by a few more trucks (tractors), but we are not sure which would be your most favorite choice. So we thought - let's ask! Please only consider Northern American trucks for now. There may come a day when we will be asking you for European trucks to suggest, but that day is not here yet, just not yet. ;) Once we have a good enough list, maybe we can then set up a poll to choose the most wanted trucks? Thank you very much, Pavel Sebor aka Sabre CEO, SCS Software
If you interesting in discuting in this matter please use this link.
